Keep in Touch
My work is a kaleidoscope of experience. These collages are the result of sketches drawn together over time as pieces of a larger puzzle. Disjointed material from different locations (the vast night skies of the American West, Cairo, Prague, Berlin, Vienna, Bologna, Chicago) produce unexpected compositions, discoveries of space and place, real and imagined. The work subverts the traditional concept of the mobile in that the tree becomes the structure. Made out of material usually used for signage, they spin like a compass or a globe might, referencing navigation as well as time. Against this backdrop, I am driven to explore. Landscapes without compass, my works capture twilight in gestures that explore the anticipation of night through the lens of a never-ending day.
